Not everyone gains from monogamy

A quick glance at 2005 statistics from

http://www.singstat.gov.sg/keystats/annual/indicators.html#Population%20Indicators

tells us that the total population in singapore is 4,351,400. A Male to female ratio of 937 : 1000 gives us 2,161,465 dudes and 2,189,935 dudettes. Assuming that all is fair and equal and that one dude pairs up with one dudette, we find that we are left with 2,189,935 - 2,161,465 = 28470 women with no partners at all.

No wonder God invented homosexuality.
